I like the privacy here in USA. People mind their own business and don't care much unless they are being pulled into the matter. I remember my train ride in Mumbai and always got the feeling that somebody is watching me. Don't get me wrong but I used to be in a train car full of women and always had one of them watching me. I wonder why. Don't even ask me what used to happen if I chose to sit in a General train car (both for men and women). I would call that leching - horrible experience for any woman.
But, here I travel around cities in trains, bus or planes and nobody even gives me a second look.
The other day I did see a guy starting towards me and that made me question myself - why? do i have a mark on my face? is anything wrong? I guess I am just not used to it.

I am scared of inventions
New inventions are done to make life simpler, easier and sometimes fun. I remember the time when we used floppies to save our files. Apart from keeping it safe I had to always take extra precautions to save the files. Sometimes I would email them to myself to just to extra careful. And do you remember the memory size ~1.4 MB? Now, we have the beautiful, sleek flash memory drives storing huge data. I wonder what happened to companies who manufacture floppies - did they stick around or started working on new innovations.
I have the latest nano ipod and I am still nervous of the next Apple invention. I am so proud of my nano right now but once the new music player hits the market my ipod will become obsolete. So will I be proud to flaunt my ipod then or will be a little shy to take it out in front of anyone?
I feel bad for the money i have spent on these gadgets and now nobody looks at them all because of these inventions.

My cellphone and I
Though I have dedicated this headline to my cellphone but I dont really like it a lot. But, right now if I get to know that my cellphone is lost, crushed by a monster, not workable, flushed down the toilet, I will be sad. But I like its concept, the fact that I can get in touch with people when I am lost in a big mall, theater or in case of an emergency. Other than that, I dont see any features in it. Some one could argue - why the hell would marketers spend so many $$ selling and researching about this gadget? I am sure I m the kinds marketers hate and would not like to talk but there are millions of others who breathe, eat, sleep their cellphones.
I think I am a utitlity person so give me any gadget , my first question would what is it use. If it is just a fancy thing with little or no utility then thats not for me.

I am baby blogger
I have always been fascinated by people who write well and have a vast vocabulary. Actually, my dad is great with words and writes well. Sadly, I couldn't pick up that skill from him. Sitting thousand miles away from him, I sometimes feel that I could have learnt a lot from him. He's an interesting man who is quite talented, never really talked about it openly. For example, he has never received any formal music training but can play flute, harmonica, guitar, harmonium, synthesiser. I guess he just one of those people who have the knack of picking up things easily and don't really need any guidance. But this story is not about my dad, its about me.
And this is just the begining. I want to write more and say more...
